Lake Eland Game Reserve
Description
Lake Eland Game Reserve is a lovely reserve located 40 minutes’ drive from Port Shepstone in KwaZulu-Natal. Aptly named after the antelope that resides here, the reserve spans 5000 acres and is made up of 4 ecosystems, namely bushveld, grassland, wetland, and coastal forest.
Lake Eland Game Reserve is the perfect destination for a family holiday, romantic getaway, or simply a day's outing. The roads are well-maintained and offer plenty of opportunities to spot a variety of fauna and flora. Spectacular views of the Oribi Gorge and abundant wild life make this a unique experience.
Wildlife to see includes giraffe, blue duiker, zebra, wildebeest, eland, shy mountain reedbuck, and bushbuck. Birds to be spotted include the Narina trogan, Knysna woodpecker, Crowned eagle, Secretary bird, and Martial eagle amongst the 200 species identified here to date.
