Misty Cliffs Beach

Misty Cliffs, Kommetjie, Western Cape

Description

Misty Cliffs is a small village nestled on the mountain slopes, between Kommetjie and Scarborough, about 45 minutes’ drive from Cape Town in the Western Cape. It’s a very popular spot for surfers because of the big, barrelling waves. The town acquired its name from the constant mist that hangs over the village and the beach for most days of the year.

The beach is not very big, but it is great for walking or enjoying a picnic in the soft sand. It’s a very popular spot for surfers because of the big, barrelling waves. It’s not a good swimming beach as the waves can get quite big, but the rock pools are great for a safe splash around with the little ones. During the peak season, it can get a little crowded, but nothing like the beaches on the Atlantic Seaboard. There is not much in the line of shops in the area, so ensure you bring what you need, but you can head into Scarborough for a bite to eat.
