Platboom Beach

Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, Southern Peninsula
+0

Description

Platboom Beach is a wild and unspoiled beach nestled in the middle of the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, also known as the “Cape of Storms”, on the Southern Peninsula. The ruggedness of the landscape adds a magical feel to the air and you can easily spend an entire day picnicking, wind surfing, kite surfing, hiking, and exploring the coastline.

The beach boasts white sandy dunes, crystal clear water, and wonderful opportunities for kite surfing and wind surfing. There is only a little beach with access to the sea. Other than that it is rocky and often filled with interesting marine life at low tide. The area is teeming with birdlife and as the beach is located within a reserve, you’ll likely spot animals roaming the sands, such as baboons, buck, and ostrich. There are no facilities on the beach and no lifeguards on duty, so swimming is at your own risk.
