Port Nolloth Museum
Description
The Port Nolloth Museum is situated in Port Nolloth, Northern Cape, and is focused on the history of the town and its people. It has many photographs and relics from the town's fascinating history on display, and tells the tale of the town that was once a key port for copper ore shipments, and the diamond mining industry.
The museum boasts a large collection of photographs and artefacts from the times of the copper ore shipments, as well as of diamond mining and fishery and other topics. Items include porcelain shards from shipwrecks, snoek teeth, whale barnacles, ancient matchboxes, slave bracelets, old medicine bottles, pieces of china dolls and clay pots, a Nama Bible, and fragments of ostrich shells used as water containers by the Khoi people.
