University Of Venda

Description

The University of Venda (UNIVEN) is a comprehensive university in Thohoyandou, Limpopo. Established in 1982 under what was then the Republic of Venda government, the aim of the university was to serve the inhabitants of the Venda Bantustan.

The university was not only attended by Venda students, but also by students from all over the northern Transvaal. Today it attracts students from all over South Africa as it offers both theory and practical courses.

The university has one main campus in Thohoyandou. This campus houses 9 of the 11 official residences, an art gallery with a variety of carvings, paintings, and pottery on display, and a full time sports centre used for indoor sports, drama, and dance.
