Alanglade
Description
Alanglade is a mansion in Pilgrim’s Rest, first inhabited by the family of Alan and Gladys Barry in 1916. Alan Barry was the General Manager of Traansvaal Gold Mining Estates. This Edwardian home is now a museum that is maintained in the style of the period, from the authentic antique furniture to the strictly kept rose garden.
The house is furnished with items from the early 1900s such as silver-plated vases, upholstery fabrics, furniture, glassware, and crockery. Guided tours of the museum can be booked from the Information Centre.
