Within the Bovlei area of Wellington, you will find the boutique wine estate of Andreas Wines, the realization of the life-long dream of the owners Jan and Anita Bokdal. Here, you can comfortably enjoy an idle summer weekend, surrounded by the lush vines and enchanting scenery, while sipping on their famous Shiraz wines – full of flavour and sweetly scented. Their farming practices are based on biodynamic principles, and this means they use no store-bought pesticides or insecticides.

Their first wine was the Andreas Shiraz 2004, which, in its debut received a coveted Silver veritas as well as double-gold Michelangelo award – and they were also the runners up for the Michelangelo trophy. Today, by prior arrangement, you can enjoy tasting some of their newer offerings, all of which are matured in either American or French wine barrels. Their large property has several function venues, and weddings here are quite popular in spring.
