Ingwe Forest Adventures
Description
Ingwe Forest Adventures is one of the most versatile venues along the Garden Route, situated in a private forest setting just 16km outside of Plettenberg Bay, Western Cape. This 200 hectare farm is made up of forest, fynbos, farmlands, and wetlands, and offers an outdoor adventure facility for young and old.
Ingwe, meaning “leopard†in Zulu and “big cat†in Xhosa, was chosen due to the various animals that roam the region. The area is home to an abundance of wildlife such as bushbuck, duiker, baboons, monkeys, bush pig, honey badger, lynx, leopard, small wild cats, porcupine, bats, and numerous other small creatures. Birdlife is prolific with birds like loeries, eagles, hawks, kites, kingfishers, wild geese, fish eagles, buzzard, kestrels francolins, guinea fowl, quail, cootes, cranes, and golden orioles. The surrounding forest comprises mainly yellowwood, ironwood, stinkwood, hard pear, milkwood, cape beech, cape ash, candlewood and numerous other indigenous trees.
Ingwe is the ideal location for youth camps, church groups, team building, special events, leadership training, educational groups, conferences, weddings, and functions. They offer programs that focus on developing effective team work and leadership skills, which are suitable for anyone from 10 years and up.
There are large wooden barn-style cabins, a communal area with a fully equipped kitchen, and a wrap-around deck with views of the Outeniqua mountain range. The communal area has tables with benches, a boma for evening bonfires, swimming pool, obstacle course, and a sports field.
