The Guild Theatre

Description

The Guild Theatre is a dynamic playhouse facility in East London, Eastern Cape. The Guild Theatre has been home to some of South Africa’s leading artists and emerging local performers, along with a number of international acts since 1962. The theatre is actively involved in facilitating arts education opportunities for youth from previously disadvantaged communities.

The theatre accommodates 490 people and hosts both commercial and non-profit productions. It is also used for various events, conferences, music concerts, and children’s theatre productions. Non-profit productions include drama, directing, and dance workshops held in townships. A traditional annual pantomime is held during the festive season.
