Wynberg Boys’ High School (WBHS) is a public boys’ school situated at the top of Wynberg Hill in Cape Town, Western Cape. The school is multi-racial and offers top quality education for boys from Grade 8 to Grade 12 in the heart of the Southern Suburbs.

HERITAGE

Wynberg Boys’ was founded in 1841 when John McNaughton opened the school in Glebe Cottage with 16 students. The school was multi-racial and initially open to both boys and girls. The school has since moved 3 times until it settled in its current location.

ACADEMICS

The school motto is Supera Moras which means “Overcome Difficulties” or in Wynberg terms, “A Wynberg Man Never Gives Up”.

The 2014 Matrics obtained a 98.6% pass rate and an 89.1% Bachelor Pass rate.

SPORTS & CULTURE

Wynberg Boys’ High School is one of the most competitive sporting schools in South Africa. Both the 1st team hockey and cricket sides have been ranked number one in South Africa. Wynberg Boys’ has excellent rugby teams competing with top South African schools like Rondebosch Boys’ High School, Bishops, and Paul Roos Gymnasium.
