The Mother City and her surroundings have no shortage of delightful breakfast spots. LekkeSlaap has chosen a few of our favourite spots that you can enjoy during your next visit. To make this even better, we have paired every restaurant with a few of our accommodation options to make your next trip truly unforgettable.
Kleinsky’s
Cape Town
Kleinsky’s is an option that never disappoints. This gem is situated in Sea Point, just a short walk from the promenade. They blend traditional Jewish cuisine with a New York flair to create dishes that you cannot get enough of. Kleinsky’s is probably best known for its wide range of bagels, but be sure to try the delectable rugelach and Russian honey cake.

Meraki
Stellenbosch
Meraki is a Stellenbosch institution nestled among the oak trees on the historical Church Street. The word meraki means “a place to gather and feast”. It is the perfect spot to catch up with friends or loved ones with a coffee in hand. Our usual order is the coconut cake and the banana bread French toast. At night Meraki transforms into a vibey wine bar that is not to be missed.

Bo-Kaap Deli
Cape Town
Bo-Kaap Deli is a down-to-earth Cape Malay-inspired restaurant in the heart of the vibrant Bo-Kaap. Their koesisters (not to be confused with koeksisters) are unrivalled and unforgettable. A koesister is a traditional Cape Malay pastry that is fried, then dipped in a syrup mix, and rolled in coconut. The people have spoken and Bo-Kaap Deli is also the winner of KFM’s Best Breakfast Spot 2023.

Lello’s Caffé
Cape Town
Lello’s is an Italian espresso bar and café in De Waterkant, Cape Town. Their paninis are made from 48-hour fermented Tuscan focaccia stuffed with a range of delicious fillings. The cornetti, a croissant-like pastry, are also to die for. A tip: Be sure not to order a cortado or a flat white as the first is of Spanish origin and the latter is an Australian coffee and Lello’s stay true to their Italian roots. Rather opt for an espresso, cappuccino, or their delectable hot chocolate.
