With December’s perfect weather around the corner there’s no better way to enjoy gastronomic delights and fine wines – along with glamorous outdoor selfies to boot – than at the Magic of Bubbles festival, set on the lush lawns of Franschhoek’s iconic Huguenot Monument.
The festival will showcase a variety of South Africa’s finest Méthode Cap Classiques along with an array of gastronomic delights from local restaurants that have firmly entrenched Franschhoek’s status as one of the world’s top culinary destinations. It’s also the perfect excuse to top up your collection of Cape wines and MCC offerings for the long summer ahead!
Well-known MCC producers include Pierre Jourdan, JC le Roux, Pongracz, Steenberg and Villiera, with newcomers such as Grande Provece and Le Lude. Some of France’s best Champagnes will also be represented by brands like Champagne Guy Charbaut, Veuve Clicquot, and Piper Heidsieck.
Participating fine dining restaurants include Bread & Wine Vineyard Restaurant, Haute Cabrière, The Salmon Bar, Le Franschhoek, L’ermitage and the Restaurant at Grande Provence, among others. Expect to see seasonally inspired menus coupled with rustic offerings presented in high-French fashion.
If the above sounds heavenly, then click on over to Webtickets and book your spot now, because if this year is anything like the previous ones, they’re going to disappear as quickly as your first glass of bubbly!
Once your spot is secure, it’s time to start planning your outfit! The theme for this year’s event is “black and white with a touch of bling”, which is easy enough to implement, so there’s no excuse for coming dressed in your latest ocean-inspired maxi dress. In keeping with a tradition that is now as much a part of the festival as the bubbly, a R5,000 MasterCard gift card will be awarded to the best dressed couple on each day. You can spend this on getting some great bubbly, or put it towards visiting some of the fantastic Franschhoek accommodations and wine farms.
