MyCascades at Club Mykonos is a little chunk of Greece that’s been plonked in the picturesque West Coast town of Langebaan. With colourful Greek style self-catering Kalivas, 7 beautiful pools, coastal pathways winding past a little sandy beach, and even stray cats roaming the property, you’re promised all the rustic beauty of real-life Greece – without the exorbitant air fare!

While the resort has a strict minimal noise rule from 22h00, this doesn’t stop the early wake-up calls from children as they splash excitedly about in the pool. And as the Kalivas are all built to surround the pool, this can often reflect the noise the same way you’d expect in an amphitheatre. It’s for this reason I recommend MyCascades as a self-catering family stay, or for those who aren’t looking for peace and quiet.

Choose from a one-bedroom Kaliva (sleeping 4) with a private bathroom, or a two-bedroom Kaliva (sleeping 4 adults and 2 children) with a main en-suite and separate bathroom. The units are very basic but they have everything you need for self-catering with an open plan kitchen, lounge, and dining area, and a balcony and braai area overlooking the swimming pool. There’s even a TV for those who can’t miss the soccer or to keep the kids busy so you can have a lazy lie-in!

A LITTLE NOTE FROM ME

Weaver bird nests overlooking the pool (C) Lauren Morling

I loved the simplicity of the Kalivas. Our balcony overlooked a large tree filled with busy weaver’s nests, which was a fantastic treat to watch with our early morning cup of tea.

I recommend following the winding pathway leading from MyCascades along the edge of the ocean towards the marina and restaurants (golf carts are available for tired legs). We sank into a couch and watched the sun set behind the bobbing yachts with a much-too-sweet frozen strawberry daiquiri.

Lekka by die See is a wonderful spot to relax and enjoy breakfast or a milkshake with an unobstructed view of the ocean. It really is lekka by die see! Make sure you grab a selfie with the giant seagull outside!

I LOVE…

The views. Each window offers a different outlook, from the swimming pool to an ocean view.
